World Science Day For Peace and Development is celebrated on 10th November across the world to create the awareness among public about the affluent importance of science in our daily life and to engage people in debates on related issues and concerns.

Proclaimed by the UNESCO General Conference in 2001, the World Science Day for Peace and Development is an annual event celebrated all over the world to recall the commitment made at the UNESCO-ICSU World Conference on Science (Budapest 1999).

The rationale of celebrating a World Science Day for Peace and Development  is based on the realization of the important roles that both science and scientists have in the sustainable societies. It aims to renew the national as well as the international commitment to science for peace and development and to stress the responsible use of science for the benefit of society. Besides, the World Science Day for Peace and Development also aspires in raising public awareness on the significance of science and bridging the gap between science and societies.
Science has pulled us away from being ignorant towards rationalism, so it becomes important for development of that part of society where orthodox and conservative thoughts are still prevalent. Creating awareness, engaging people in rationale and scientific talks and making the concept of Science itself clear is an important Goal of World Science Day for Peace and Development.
